4140 Steel
Low-alloy chrome-molybdenum steel, known for its excellent balance of mechanical strength, toughness and hardenability. It is generally supplied quenched and tempered, ready to machine and use in components subject to high loads, impact and repetitive stress. It is one of the most widely used machinery grade steels for making axles, shafts, gears, crankshafts, spindles, pins and high-strength fasteners.
